Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer and songwriter for a number of years. Her family was home-schooled by her mom within the USA. Her childhood was filled with racist remarks and being made to feel unwelcome. It was in her ninth grade that she gained confidence following her acclaim at an audition. The experience not only increased her confidence but was also a change in the direction of her professional career. At the age of 22, she received her degree from in the Julliard School of New York. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was You've Got Mail. The part in The Lad of The Lake is her biggest success, and earned an award for her performance, the Tony Award in addition to critical acclaim for her role. The following year, she appeared as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC, she gained greater recognition. As a well-known singer, she has also released both an album and a musical. She's also an activist who fights for LGBT rights.
